The US Forest Service recently released a draft of the Connecticut Highlands Study for which Audubon Connecticut submitted comments. We suggested that the document acknowledge gaps in our knowledge about the distribution many species of conservation concern and include an analysis of different forest types within the Highlands Region and to evaluate the landscape scale effects of fragmentation as a supplement to the standard analysis of the size of individual contiguous forest blocks.
